Talk for the Parents of Std V to VII on “Good Parenting”

The Seminar at the Annual General Body Meeting for the parents of std V, VI and VII was held on 10th August, 2024 in Mother Veronica hall at 9.15 am. In all 173 parents attended the seminar.

Fr. Kiran Lopes was the resource person who spoke on “Good Parenting”. Fr. was welcomed by Sister Joviana Fernandes with a sapling after being introduced.

The Programme began with a prayer and a prayer song sung by the school choir followed by a skit which was performed by the students of std VI and VII portraying certain family situations on which the talk was based.

Fr. Began by asking the parents to recollect their childhood memories related to food, games etc and compare it with today’s lifestyle pertaining to their children.

Fr. Further gave his inputs by mentioning about observation, acceptance, heredity and environment its influence on the child etc. He also mentioned about some facts related to Educational Psychology by Thorndike such as law of Trial and Error, law of effect, law of reward and punishment, law of frequency etc. fr. Further stressed that parents should spend quality time with their children and also involve in friendly discussions in order to cater to their needs. Fr. also spoke about the role of school and parents in the overall development of the child’s personality.

The seminar ended by thanking the resource person and the parents.
